Wasting our lives and glorifying God

Wasting our lives and glorifying God
Notice God's unutterable waste of saints, according to the judgment of the world. God plants His saints in the most useless places. We say - God intends me to be here because I am so useful. Jesus never estimated His life along the line of the greatest use. God puts His saints where they will glorify Him, and we are no judges at all of where that is. ~Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest, August 10

Blessed Are The Pure In Heart

Each of my older children (the two little ones are exempt), decided on their own what they would fast for Lent.  Israel gave up pasta, Luc gave up butter, Caesar gave up candy, and Meg gave up ice cream.

On Thursday night Meg, my friend Lida, and I were going to watch a movie.  I was putting the little ones down for bed and Meg was arranging snacks.  She was going to scoop a little bowl of ice cream for me.

"Lida," she called, "could you come here."  Lida went to the kitchen.  Meg said, "Would you just stay with me while I do this.  I don't trust myself."

She proceeded to scoop the ice cream and then handed Lida the scooping spoon, "Please take this spoon, so I won't lick it.  I'm tempted."

And my Mommy heart just melted when this story was relayed to me by Lida.  What a pure hearted child.  I should be more like her and admit my weaknesses and ask for help--without shame or embarrassment.

Please stay with me.  I don't trust myself.

Please take this.  I'm tempted.

...For they shall see God.

That brought tears to my eyes. I can only imagine the wonderful things God has in store for Meg. She already shows wisdom and self-discipline beyond her years.

How beautiful!!

And how wonderful your analysis you shared, of the whole happening, Daja!!

Asking for help... admitting we need it. How profound an idea most times forgotten... except by children.

I'll be thinking about this all day today. Thank you! <3

I'm so glad I get to read your blog every day . . . Meg's lesson to me is that it's okay to ask for help when I know I am weak or not trusting enough.

I never get enough of your blogging ~ please don;t ever give it up.
