Wasting our lives and glorifying God

Wasting our lives and glorifying God
Notice God's unutterable waste of saints, according to the judgment of the world. God plants His saints in the most useless places. We say - God intends me to be here because I am so useful. Jesus never estimated His life along the line of the greatest use. God puts His saints where they will glorify Him, and we are no judges at all of where that is. ~Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest, August 10

A lovely little lecture

It's Valentine's Day.  A day to eat heart-shaped eggs for breakfast and cupcakes for lunch.

We are having a great day.  More relaxed than a regular school days, but way more creative.  I do love this day.  I'm wearing pink.  And pearls.

Just thought I'd pop in and suggest a couple old blog posts to inspire your romantic day!  Because I've noticed a little apathy about today from my sisters-in-Christ and on Facebook.  Here's my nicest, sweetest, dripping with honey and served with tea and scones scolding to all of you, women and men, who have nothing planned today.

The first blog post is This Feeling of Love In The Air.  A little reminder that today is about giving, not just receiving.  And hopefully it'll be inspiring you to go spread a little love around.

The second blog post is In Honor of Valentine's Day.  Here's a teaser: The prophet Hosea showed us that God doesn’t just care about His people (like I care about the neighbors, the homeless man on the corner, my mother, my friends, or my favorite show on television), but that God is actually aroused by His people.

Go read both posts.  And if you haven't gotten your romance on today, go dip some strawberries in some chocolate, make your husband's favorite meal, or read some sonnets at the top of your lungs.  Sometimes you have to stir it up a little.  (You knew that, didn't you?  You didn't expect every feeling and action to function in and of itself, did you?)  Romance sometimes is an act of the will.

Love it - love it - love it - Daja!!

Oh the fun that Valentine's Day can be. "An act of the will" indeed.

:-)

Heart-shaped sandwiches, strawberry-flavored milk, heart stickers on top of yogurt containers, cards propped here & there for loved ones to find, Valentines sent in the mail to elderly aunts I haven't seen in awhile, kisses on top of heads, pink mashed potatoes (*lol*).

Such fun missed out on, if one ignores Valentine's Day.

I know yours was wonderful... and I thought of you, with love, that day!!

I, too, found lots of apathy around blogland about Valentine's Day. You know, stuff like, "We should show love everyday, so why make this one day special?" Or "I don't like red." "Or chocolate."

Why make a day special? For the fun of it! That's why! That's what celebrating is all about!

Why do I celebrate my birthday? 'Cause it's fun! Why do I celebrate Valentine's Day? Because it's special to take time out and celebrate love!

Now if I ONLY showed love on Valentine's Day, that might be odd. Hmmmm.....I wonder if that's the cause of some of the apathy -- not showing love on all those other days.
